omg ! I just deleted all my social media apps and I feel so much better now 🥹 I have made a decision to only focus on my studies and substack 💕 Glad to see i'm not the only one 🥰

I’m so glad I was spared from earning money through Instagram. It would make it a lot harder to silence if I was relying on it for monetary purposes. Recently, God has even specifically told me that I don’t need my phone at all to ‘find my audience’. How freeing!

Oh, I love this so much! Yes, sometimes what we think is a disappointment or failure is actually a mercy from God. I love that He’s speaking this to you, I’ll keep that same encouragement in mind for myself 🤍

I am right there with you! I too have felt the sickening effects of social media for many years, and for about six years now have been free of "big" social media as I call it. You list so many wonderful ideas here: I love the focus on nature, returning to handicrafts, using real cookbooks!, becoming a part of your local church and Bible study and reading a physical Bible!

I also relate to consulting Pinterest for fashion--I did this a lot in the past, but since my current pregnancy I haven't been (25 weeks now), I think mainly because in the first trimester I just didn't have enough energy to put together an outfit other than a sweater and leggings! But somehow I never went back to Pinterest for fashion with the same amount of energy even after my energy returned...I have taken to wearing dresses (both due to the growing belly, and the summer weather) and have found that just rotating through my dresses, wearing no makeup, and either a ponytail or messy bun helps me focus less on my appearance (as long as I'm clean and tidy) and more on my duties and loved ones. It's very freeing!

I also want to make one more suggestion, one that can be really hard for us as moderns and that is cultivating a practice of silence! Like real silence... maybe sitting down with a journal to record any thoughts, but definitely no phone or anything else distracting. Even better if you can do it in nature, but still beneficial to do indoors. It's really challenging, but so grounding and centering. 5 minutes to start, working up to 20 minutes.
